The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is recruiting a Head of Policy and Commissioning
The role leads the policy making and commissioning function for the Commissioner, with a key role in influencing the content and delivery of the Police and Crime Plan and providing strategic policy advice to the Commissioner and the Senior Management Team.
To manage and undertake research, analysis and interpretation of relevant police performance data and evidence gathering relating to crime, community safety and criminal justice in order to inform the work of the PCC as required. To ensure this research informs the OPCC’s Commissioning approach.
The post holder will work closely through partners and stakeholders and contribute to shared opportunities for service improvement across Dorset, as well as ensure the views of the PCC are properly represented at a national level.
The post holder will work closely with and take direction from the OPCC Executive to lead the Commissioner’s strategy and commissioning team. Duties will include managing analysis, research, development and delivery of policy initiatives, plans and programmes.
The post holder will source the best policy advice and guidance for the Commissioner, ensuring the wider local, national and, where appropriate, international operational context is covered.
The post holder will take direction from the OPCC Senior Management Team to develop, maintain and influence a network of internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues in similar roles elsewhere. Advise the PCC on opportunities to align wider community safety work across the county by suggesting strategies for engaging, negotiating and influencing stakeholders and partners to mobilise their resources against shared outcomes including the Police and Crime Plan.
