DORSET PCC WELCOMES NEW VICTIMS INFORMATION SERVICE
Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill has welcomed a new service for victims that will ensure better information and support. The new national Victims Information Service (VIS) was developed by the Ministry Of Justice.
This new service will include a helpline to make sure victims are guided to local support services; and a website where they can find information about services in their area.
Martyn Underhill, Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner and the APCC’s lead on Mental Health and Policing, said: “I welcome this new service which will compliment and work alongside the services we already offer in Dorset, such as the Victims Bureau and Victims Support. It is vital that victims are put first. They deserve the best possible care to help them cope and recover with their experiences.”
The service can be contacted online at www.victimsinformationservice.org.uk or by calling 0808 168 9293.
