Statement on the occasion of the Kings Coronation

The King has today taken three oaths during the coronation ceremony, the first two of which relate to upholding the laws of the land and ruling with justice and mercy.

Those words are reflected in the pledge made by the thousands of people who come into policing and make a commitment to fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality, and I made a similar oath when I became Police and Crime Commissioner. It is imperative that each officer of the law and public servant strives to keep the solemn promise made to the people they serve and ensure the oath is at the very heart of every action taken.

And as our King takes those oaths and pledges a life of service to his people, I extend to His Majesty my sincere congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy reign.
