Dorset Action on Abuse
Dorset Action on Abuse (DAA ) supports vulnerable adults over the age of 16, who suffer from the enduring consequences of childhood abuse: sexual, physical, emotional, financial and neglect
- PRIORITY 1
- PRIORITY 2
Due their experience of being violated and unsupported victims of crime as children, these adults struggle as traumatised individuals. Many are unable to function in their daily lives, feeling isolated, stigmatised and disconnected.. Some turn to self-harm in desperate attempts to cope, while some may be parents themselves, and feel concerned with the impact their symptoms and distress is having upon their children.
Through weekly, face to face or Skype counselling sessions, empowerment and wellbeing groups, DAA helps survivors recover from this debilitating distress and disadvantage with which they suffer as a result of the adverse crimes that were committed against them when they were children.
