The parish council had the simple idea of purchasing 2000 30 mph stickers for local residents to affix to their wheelie bins, as a reminder to drivers that they are in a built up area. The visual impact of the stickers is increased by the fact the bins are only put out once a week which meant that drivers would not become used to stickers and ‘blind’ to them.
Stick@30 supports the work undertaken by the local Community Speed Watch group and Dorset County Council who regularly speak at the town about local road safety.
The feedback from residents was been most positive, liking the fact that they can engage in a project to ‘self help’, and reported that it made them feel they are 'doing their bit'. The scheme operates Dorchester Road, Lytchett Minster,Dorchester Road, Upton, Poole Road, Upton, Sandy Lane, Upton, Moorland Way, Upton and Blandford Road South
