The Rendezvous – Championship Tournament

The Rendezvous Centre provides advice, information, education and training to young people between 14 and 25 in the Sherborne area.

A successful bid to the Safer Dorset Fund for £801 helped purchase an Xbox providing an attraction to bring them into socialise and meet new people. Many of the young people using the centre are NEET ( not in employment, education or training )  or unemployed. As a result of the Xbox, more young people have started to attend  the centre , with staff noticing a stark contrast in behaviour of the young people, particularly males when they are playing,  as they become more engaged with others, sharing tips, taking turns and laughing together - a huge improvement in behaviour from prior to having the Xbox available.

The project was extended to include football sessions during the summer of 2015, plus some outreach at the Sherborne Skatepark

One young man who attends the centre three times a week to socialise and play on the Xbox has found the project very beneficial. He said "Coming here and doing this stops me from sitting at home doing drugs. It keeps me out of trouble.”
