Council Tax 2015/16

Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Martyn Underhill, has set the annual policing budget for 2015/16 including freezing the policing precept element of Council Tax and accepting a freeze grant of £574,000 from central government.

In setting the Policing Precept for the year, the PCC has sought to balance the desire to keep the Council Tax low while simultaneously ensuring Dorset Police is adequately resourced to meet the needs of the public, in the context of reduced national funding.

The PCC has a statutory obligation to set the police budget and precept. Taking the government freeze grant for one year will allow officer numbers to be maintained. Despite financial challenges ahead, Dorset Police is on track to achieving the savings required by 2015/16.
