Opening the doors of justice – you’re invite to Bournemouth Crown Court Open Day
I am delighted to invite residents from across Dorset to attend the Bournemouth Crown Court Open Day on Saturday 6 June at 10am.
The event will provide a valuable opportunity for members of the public to gain a greater understanding of our criminal justice system and to see first-hand the important work carried out every day by those who serve within it.
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to experience a range of engaging and informative activities, including mock trials and sentencing hearings, guided tours of the court cells, and presentations and question-and-answer sessions with Barristers, Magistrates, and the Chief Constable of Dorset Police amongst others.
Sessions include:

I know the justice system can often appear complex or inaccessible, and I believe events such as this are vital in helping to build public understanding, trust, and confidence. By opening the doors of Bournemouth Crown Court to our communities, we are providing people with a unique insight into how policing, the courts, and wider criminal justice partners work together to deliver justice and protect the public.
I am particularly pleased that attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with professionals from across the justice system, ask questions, and learn more about the responsibilities and challenges faced by those working to keep Dorset safe.
Criminal justice partners who will be attending include:
- The office of Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner
- Dorset Police
- Positive Action
- His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service
- The Crown Prosecution Service
- Witness Services
- Victim Support
- Youth Justice Service
- Probation
- People First
- 3PB Barristers
- BCP Council
Whether you have a professional interest in the law, are considering a career in policing or criminal justice, or simply wish to learn more about how our courts operate, I would encourage you to attend.
