Dorset OPCC has designed this website with accessibility as a key focus and wish to ensure that our online products and services are accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability. Providing an accessible website has a positive effect on general usability and we believe this benefits everyone.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliance(s) and the exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

(a) non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

(b)  the content is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

  • Older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software for a number of reasons, images missing text alternatives (1.1.1), table layouts not using the correct structure or markup, headings not being corectly marked up (1.3.1), links missing alternative text (2.4.4) and missing titles (2.4.2). The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 23rd January 2023. It was last reviewed on 8th December 2025.

This website was last tested in September 2022. The test was carried out by independent agency (Adido). The test was conducted using a combination of automated tests (Axe) and manual analysis across the main landing and focus pages, as well as additional page types as deemed necessary.

A spot check was completed by the Government Digital Services in January 2023 and following feedback from the report, further changes were made.

A further spot check was completed by the Government Digital Services in November 2025 and further changes were made to bring it inline with WCAG 2.2.
